Scott McPherson is an intellectual property lawyer and scientist who
advises clients in all aspects of the creation, management, advocacy and
procurement of intellectual property portfolios. Before becoming an
attorney, Scott worked for nine years as a scientist in the biotechnology
industry developing and managing research used to identify the efficacy
and safety aspects of drugs, devices and biologics. After leaving the
laboratory and entering law school, Scott worked as a scientific advisor
for Foley & Lardner. Following law school, he worked in-house with
Nanogen Inc., and then spent over six years with DLA Piper and the
intellectual property firm Townsend Townsend & Crew .Scott's focus and primary interest is maximizing the value of
intellectual property assets. His practice emphasizes intellectual
property protection issues: including patent preparation and prosecution;
rendering and preparation of various legal opinions; and managing general
client IP and business issues for clients in the biotech, medical device,
clean-tech, high-tech and action sports industries. He also assists Julie
McGuire in IP-related matters. In addition to being special counsel to
Hull McGuire, Scott also operates S McPherson IP Law, emphasizing IP work,
in San Diego California.
He resides in San Diego, California.
